Ten years ago, my first husband James was diagnosed with brain cancer and died one month later. Our daughters were 3 years and 10 months old. This experience flipped my life upside down but I used it to my advantage and learned to live life with little to no stress, to be positive and best of all, to be the best mother to my girls.

In April of 2011, I began to date a friend from elementary school who I reconnected with thanks to Facebook. I first met Fred in kindergarten and lost touch with him after he moved away in the fourth grade. He was one if those kids you remembered. Well, who could forget a mischievous boy with glasses, a patch over one eye and a bowl cut? πŸ˜‰ Four months after we started dating, we were married. Crazy, right? LOL All I can say is that I’ve been very lucky in love…twice πŸ™‚

My journey through grief led me to discover a love of running, a new me and a new life with my daughters, my darling new husband and our three toddlers (2 cats and 1 dog πŸ™‚ I completed a running goal for 2012- to run 720 miles. As of November 17, 2012 I completed the goal- 6 weeks early! Ran a total of 740, I had expected to get in an additional 90 miles but thanks to what I thought was a lovely, lengthy bout of viral bronchitis, that dream was stunted.

Bronchitis is was not, stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma it was. Β Apparently, this is my next challenge!Β

I encourage my readers and anyone who will listen to embrace life, leave behind the little negativities and to find your fitness. Life IS short but it can be AWESOME! So get out there and enjoy this crazy thing called life! πŸ™‚

Hello Lisa,
Just a quick message to ask if you would be interested in a ‘mutual’ following on twitter. I am currently following you now and am awaiting for your follow-back if you indeed decide to do so… (#FYI I do RT’s for all #Triathletes #Cyclists #UltraRunners & #Marathoners who follow me on Twitter and have something important they want mentioned…)

All the very best to you and yours for the rest of 2012 and beyond Lisa. Look forward to hearing from you…

Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a diet/fitness app and online website. I saw your blog yesterday and it captured my interest!

I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in getting 1 for free to review when it’s out (negative or positive).

Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker.com with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.

A brief explanation of who we are, our online website SlimKicker basically turns your diet/fitness goals into a level-up RPG game. The tracker will work with the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.

Anyway, hope to hear back either way…

– Sue

Hi Lisa – I’m not sure how I ended up following you…perhaps one of my Facebook friends does and one day I clicked the “like” link…but I wanted to let you know that I ready every post that you make and even though I don’t know you, I’ve read your whole story, I think of you often and you are one fantastic person. I’m glad to hear that it sounds like you are turning the corner on this thing!! I see in your pic today, some McAlear info…my kids go to Auburn (or at least one still does, the other is at Western now). Anyway…keep it up and have a great weekend!

Thank you so much for your kind words. πŸ™‚ I hope I’m turning a corner…it is now a “possibly resistant” tumor. Let’s hope not πŸ™‚ Thank you for your support.
